As we move into the new academic year, From Feed the Birds to Do Not Feed the Animals, is looking both backwards and forwards.

First of all, we’re looking forwards to the culmination of the project with a conference to celebrate the hard work everyone has put in and to have a broader discussion with other researchers about work they’re doing in other parts of the world or by thinking about different animal-human relationships. The conference will be on 10th and 11th January 2024 at the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh. Save the date and watch this space for more details soon!

To put the conference in context we can look back over a busy and exciting year which saw us visiting our research partners Fishbourne Roman Palace, the British Trust for Ornithology, the Museum of English Rural Life, Powell Cotton Museum, and Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park. These visits were great opportunities for our research team, partners and network to get together and hear more about each other’s work and to keep shaping the project’s research which we’ll be showcasing at the conference.
